Peach - Anzac (Prunus persica) 25L

$105.00

The Anzac Peach is an iconic Australian heirloom variety bred in 1915. Named in honour of the ANZAC soldiers, this variety is highly prized across Australia for its exceptional sweetness, heavy cropping, and early summer maturity. Strictly self-fertile; requires a single tree to get an abundant crop, as it does not need a cross-pollinator.

Fruit Colour: Attractive ruby-red or deep pink blush over a cream skin.
Fruit Shape: Round fruit
Fruit Size: Large
Flavour: Intensely sweet and rich, making it an absolute favourite for eating fresh straight from the tree.
Fruit Season: Late December through to mid-January
Cropping Habit: Prolific, reliable, and early-season cropping habit.
Best Uses: Perfect for eating fresh, juicing, or making desserts. Note that because the flesh gets incredibly soft when fully ripe, it is generally considered unsuitable for commercial bottling or preserving.

Light requirement: Full sun
Water requirement: High water requirement during spring and summer.

Watering frequency: Moderate, give it a good soaking in Spring & Summer.
Soil: Must be planted in well-drained soil. Peach trees have a low tolerance for waterlogged roots, especially during the winter dormancy period.
Skill level: Beginner
Growth rate: Moderate
Suitable for container gardens: No. Standard Anzac peach trees grow too large and have root systems that are too aggressive for pots.

Mature Height: 3-4m
Mature Width: 3-4m

Seasonality: Deciduous

Drought Tolerant: Low
Frost Tolerant: Moderate. Spring blossoms and newly forming fruitlets are highly susceptible to late spring frosts, which can easily kill off the flowers and destroy your crop for the season
Wind Tolerant: Moderate, can tolerate coastal conditions. Beware, when the branches are overloaded with heavy fruit in December, strong winds can easily snap branches under the combined strain.

Leaf colour:‍ Spring and Summer: The foliage is a bright, rich green. Autumn: clear, pale yellow or buttery gold.
Leaf Variegation pattern: No

Size of leaf: 10-15cm long & 2-4cm wide
